accident repair

What do I do in the event of an accident?

If you have an accident, all you have to do is phone your insurance company and ask for a claim number.  Your insurance company is obliged to provide one.  With that claim number, our team here at Motorbodies can deal directly with your insurance company.

Remember that, in addition to paying for your repairs, your insurance company has an obligation to a “duty of care.”  We will work with you and the insurance company to ensure that they meet their obligations.  Once you have your claim number, just call us and we’ll do the rest.

What if my Insurance company recommends somewhere other than Motorbodies to repair my vehicle?

Your Insurance Company may direct your vehicle to their 'approved' repairer with the aim of keeping their costs down. They also dictate the level of service and the quality of the repair you and your car will receive. Also, non original parts are frequently used which may not fit correctly and will probably invalidate your manufacturers’ warranty.

It has been agreed with the Office of Fair Trading and The British Board of Motor Insurers that as a Motor Vehicle insurance policy holder you have the right to choose where to have your vehicle repaired regardless of your insurance company’s advice. You are not obliged to use their approved repairer and you can insist on having your vehicle repaired by Motorbodies.

Does it really matter who repairs my vehicle?

Cars are changing - your vehicle will be made from many different materials including, high strength steels, ultra high strength steels, boron, aluminium & plastic to name but a few. (Cars were traditionally made out of Mild Steel)

Some of these new materials, if repaired by traditional methods will not react as they should in a future accident; therefore potentially putting yours and your families lives at risk.

When you have an accident, it is therefore imperative that your vehicle is repaired by a specialist with the correct Equipment, which is maintained & calibrated on a regular basis, in order to return your vehicle to the Manufacturers standards.

How easy is it for you to match up the colour of my vehicle during a repair?

We can mix 45,000 car colours from straight solid to clear over base metallic’s and pearlescent micas on our Glasurit weight mixing machine. With the use of an advanced identification system, we can guarantee accurate colour matching on all makes of cars & vans.

How environmentally friendly is your paint?

All of our paint technology is water-based, which means the impact to the environment is minimal in comparison to other paint technologies.

What does Paint-free Dent Removal (PDR) mean?

Our paint-free dent removal process will not crack or mark the paint surface and provides a cost-effective solution to conventional repair methods.

Paint-less dent removal is a collection of techniques for removing minor dents and dings from the body of a motor vehicle.

The most common practical use for PDR is the repair of hail damage, door dings, minor body creases, and minor bumper indentations.
